Northlands Exposition Center Defies Convention with nora

Northlands Exposition Center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is a 522,000-square-foot structure that holds exposition, tradeshow and conference events, with catering facilities on-site. Originally a nonprofit agricultural society that was created in 1879 to bring together farmers, ranchers and agriculturalists to share information on what was happening in their industries, Northlands now welcomes more than four million people annually, who visit the 2,500 events held at the organization’s exhibition hall, arena and 5/8-mile track.

According to the design team and personnel at Northlands Exposition Center, the facility required a floor covering that would be resilient, easy to maintain and long-lasting. Additionally, floors in corridors needed to stand up to forklift activity as exhibitors brought products into the building, making extreme durability a major factor as building owners considered flooring options. The facility used a sophisticated combination of norament® luxor and norament® serra to bring color, texture and durability to entranceways, corridors and even bathrooms. The unmatched performance and unique slate look beautifully tie the flooring to the look and feel throughout the rest of the facility.
