House of Music Hungary: a space to enjoy culture in an extraordinary atmosphere

The House of Music Hungary is a masterpiece of contemporary architecture designed by renowned Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto. The interior is a continuation of the surrounding natural environment. The large glass panels and the openwork roof structure integrate trees from the 122-hectare park in which the building stands.

Measuring 9,000 square metres, it houses concert halls, exhibition spaces and an open-air stage. Visitors can choose to explore the history of European music or the world of Hungarian pop music.

The building is equipped with special heating, cooling and rainwater collection systems, while most of the energy is provided by geothermal and other renewable sources. This was just one of the factors that led to the project being awarded BREEAM certification.

Rubber flooring for Hungary’s largest cultural project

The anthracite noraplan stone rubber flooring installed in some of the exhibition rooms is a perfect match for the modern design concept. This hard-wearing special non-slip floor covering provides a safe surface for visitors and employees, while also creating an attractive ambience. The permanent resilience of the noraplan stone surface also offers acoustic benefits, as it considerably reduces the noise from sources such as footfall.
