Carle Foundation Hospital underwent a large, $45-million state-of-the-art expansion to its North Tower, which includes the hospital’s 10,000-square-foot NICU. The facility is now equipped to care for up to 28 critically ill infants at the same time.
Because NICU babies are especially sensitive to sound, officials at the Carle Foundation Hospital looked for a floor covering that had good sound absorption qualities and would not disturb its neonatal patients. They turned to noraplan environcare, which also offers the low-maintenance benefits they sought, allowing them to efficiently clean the sensitive space without introducing potentially harmful stripping and waxing agents to the regimen. Reviews from the hospital have been positive; not only are staff pleased with the acoustic and maintenance benefits, but they also rave about the underfoot comfort it provides them, especially those that spend the majority of their workday on their feet.
