Interface Updates Environmental Product Declarations for nora Rubber Flooring

New EPDs reflect carbon footprint reductions within the company's rubber flooring portfolio

ATLANTA – April 2025 – Interface, Inc. (NASDAQ: TILE), the global flooring solutions company and leader in sustainability, today released updated Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for several of its nora® by Interface rubber floor coverings. These updates reflect significant progress in reducing the carbon footprint of the materials used and manufacturing processes. This achievement aligns with the company’s strategy to go ‘all in’ on its ambitious carbon negative by 2040 goal.

Innovative rubber flooring styles with reduced environmental impact

“The EPDs of our best-selling rubber floor coverings now consistently have a lower global warming potential (cradle-to-gate),” said Luca Achilli, Global Innovation and Sustainability Projects Director at Interface. “These long-lasting nora rubber products offer advancements in recycled and bio-based content and enhanced transparency through cradle-to-cradle certifications and Health Product Declarations.”

Notable EPD updates include the introduction of new product-specific information for certain thicknesses, and significant emission reductions achieved through the use of pre-consumer recycled materials, bio-based materials, and innovative designs that facilitate reusable and demountable installation systems. With an impressive service life ranging from 30 to 50 years, nora floor coverings continue to stand out as a durable and sustainable choice for customers committed to minimizing their environmental impact. These advancements not only enhance the ecological profile of our products but also reinforce our dedication to delivering long-term value and sustainability to our clients.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) enhance transparency and sustainability in the construction industry by providing verified life cycle assessment data, enabling precise evaluation of building products' environmental impact. Interface offers product-specific EPDs for its most popular rubber flooring products, with recent updates showing significant carbon emission reductions in several product lines due to bio-based materials, improved production efficiency, and updated supplier data. Interface pioneered EPDs and was the first North American flooring manufacturer to publish a third-party verified EPD in 2009 and the first globally to do so for all standard products in 2012. Today, virtually all of Interface products, including all standard carpet tiles and resilient flooring, have product-specific EPDs.

“These updated EPDs benefit planners, architects and building owners because they serve as a reliable tool for making informed decisions about sustainable construction methods – for example by taking the carbon footprint into account during the specification process. The combination of transparency and improved data creates a solid foundation for sustainable and forward-looking construction projects”, concluded Achilli.
